Pilates for Fencers – Warm Up 1

Here’s a good warm-up for your whole body before going onto the piste and one to do regularly throughout the week! From the toes, all the way up to your shoulders, Victoria Enaut, founder of Body in Motion Pilates, guides you through a series of exercises to mobilise and strengthen your joints and challenge your balance. She also shows you ways to progress each exercise with the use of small equipment such as weights. It’s ideal as a warm up but also as a routine to practice regularly in between training sessions. I cover all joints, from the ankles to the shoulders, working both mobility and stability in a most relevant way for fencing. Victoria also brings in some symmetry so as to tackle the imbalances caused by the sport.
