This British Fencing and England Fencing accredited level 2 referee epee online theory course and consists of a 3 hour Zoom workshop with Chris Farren, BF and IWAS international referee educator, followed by an online multiple-choice examination.

The course covers topics such as the role of the referee, safety and safeguarding, competition structure, correct use of hand signals and common penalties, as well as those refereeing moments that are specific to epee fencing.

It is aimed at candidates that already have a basic knowledge of the weapon being studied, and candidates that pass this online examination will then be eligible to take a practical examination with a referee mentor at a fencing competition of suitable level. You do not need to have a level 1 referee certification to take part.
Candidate who have passed the theory part can progress to a practical assessment at a competition. Please discuss options with your referee educator.
Requirements of this course
This is an online workshop using Zoom. You will need a device that connects to the internet to see the presentation and have a working camera to enable the assessor to observe candidates hand actions. A joining link will be emailed to you 24hrs before the published session time. British Fencing membership required.
